Bacon the Chihuahua is named for one of his favorite foods. The way he dived for a piece of pork that had fallen to the floor when he was a puppy inspired owner Chu Diaz to name him after the treat.
Bacon almost didn’t live 11 years. He was struck by a car when he was 4-years-old but survived.
“He was born again,” Diaz said of his pup. Diaz is a radio personality whose early morning show is on Z92.3 FM. He and his wife Estrella Martinez live with Bacon in Miami Lakes.
Bacon enjoys his walks around Royal Oaks Park on the upper west side of town.
“All of my neighbors love him, Diaz said. “He’s a nice dog.”
Bacon also likes to play fetch.
“He’s not a yapper,” Diaz said. “He’s my little boy, like a son for me.”
