Pets of Miami Lakes

If you live on the west side of Miami Lakes, you may have seen Margot walking in Business Park West.

Margot the pitbull is owned by Ileana Gibson.

Margot, who is estimated to be around five or six, was found three years ago by Gibson.

“I had lost my two American bulldogs … a year had passed and I wanted to find a dog,” Gibson said.

On sheer luck she found Margot, who had been in the street and was trying to be coaxed out of the road by a man, Gibson said the connection was instant between them.

“I needed my soul dog,” Gibson said.

Margot became that soul dog for Gibson who trusted her when they met.

She did try to find Margot’s owners and posted photos of her on social media and in the neighborhood, but when no one claimed her, she        became her dog.

“She is amazing,” Gibson said. “[It was an] instant connection.”

Described as a sweet wiggle-butt pup she loves everyone she meets.

“All the neighbors know her, she has to greet everyone,” Gibson said.

Margot is also called nana by the family, like the dog from “Peter Pan” as she loves Gibson’s grandkids James and Tommy and sticks close to them.

Margot also doesn’t bark and doesn’t react to other dogs when they bark at her.

“She is the true ambassador [for the breed],” Gibson said.
