As the season of giving begins, there are two opportunities to help those who are less fortunate.
The H.O.P.E. Mission Center, founded by Miami-Dade Commissioner Sen. Rene Garcia, is partnering with Lotus House, which provides housing and services for women and children.
Through Sept. 23, the center will accept donations at 1490 W. 68th St. in Hialeah.
Lotus House needs: new/used purse; socks; underwear/sports bras; shampoo/conditioner; soap/lotion/bandages; wipes; toothbrushes and toothpaste; sunscreen; single serving snacks (trail mix, nuts); tuna and crackers packs; feminine hygiene products; baby diapers; onesies, hats, socks and mittens for newborns; baby carriers; breast pump; combination car seat/stroller; baby food and formula; bibs and bottles.

The Miami Lakes Athletic Club will accept non-perishable foods such as canned soup, vegetables and beans; milk; tuna; jelly; cereal; macaroni & cheese, apple sauce; pasta and more on behalf of Feeding South Florida.
Bring donations to the front desk in the club at 15150 Bull Run Rd. in Miami Lakes by Sept. 30.
