Spanish Lake Elementary holds parent workshops

Community Wednesday, February 13, 2019

In the era of high stakes and high stress testing, Spanish Lake Elementary (SLE) and schools throughout Miami-Dade County are providing their students and parents instruction and activities to enhance student achievement.
A recent parent workshop held at SLE highlighted reading and language arts in ways parents could support their student academically and emotionally, the FSA-ELA performance scale and writing scale, test dates and information related to both the reading and writing components.
Critical thinking learning techniques do not always come naturally. So meeting the needs of students and providing the optimum learning environment is crucial. Teachers know their students and rigorous strategies must be implemented from small to whole group instruction to independent lessons to customized lessons to meet student's learning and performance. Along the way, students must be praised and not discouraged.
Parents desire to help students succeed can be enormously helpful. For additional parent support workshops, contact your student's school or Spanish Lake Elementary main office at 305-816-0300.
