Spanish Lake Elementary knows there is nothing more important to academic achievement than being a good reader.
Thus, the school's spectacular celebration of the students' culture and traditions are incorporated into the craft of enhancing the reading process during Winter Wonderland which took place from Monday, December 9 through Friday, December 20.
Students wrote and shared stories related to their Winter Wonderland activities. The two weeks before winter break are kicked off with "Reading Under the Stars" which lasted for two nights, December 10 and 11.
These sensational evenings included student performances, story-tellers, crafts, face painting, Santa, a dunk tank, food trucks, a DJ and cookies with milk. The campus comes alive with the twinkle of lights. This most popular, well-attended family experience is a delightful way to enjoy the beauty and sparkle of the season.
Additional Winter Wonderland-linked experiences included Spanish Lake Elementary's annual Toy Drive, Chorus and Recorders Holiday Performances, and the sharing of food baskets.
