On Saturday, October 20, Miami Lakes Optimist and MPS (Mucopolysaccharidosis) SuperHero Foundation are co-hosting the MPS SuperHero second-annual ‘Kickin’ for a Cure’ kickball tournament. The event will be hosted at Miami Lakes Optimist Park located at 6411 N.W. 162 Street, and will last from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. There will be fun, raffles, food and a free kids corner with lots of entertainment hosted by a child life specialist.

Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid and Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez along with other mayors in Miami-Dade county will be in attendance. Along with local businesses, they will all come together at this friendly competition for a great cause. All funds raised will go directly to funding a cure for MPS II, otherwise known as Hunter Syndrome.

Most children affected by MPS II will slowly lose their abilities to walk, talk and eat before they’re 10 years old, and will lose their lives shortly after. The MPS SuperHero Foundation believes all children deserve a chance to live, and that’s what they are trying to accomplish.
