Miami Lakes Youth Center will be hosting several fun and exciting programs for middle and high school students at “The Spot” from 6 to 8 p.m. during October at 6075 Miami Lakes Drive.

Friday, October 12 - Open Mic Night. Love singing, sharing poetry, or just being the comedian in your group? Bring your friends for a “coffee house style” Open Mic Night that will be filled with laughter, joy and sweets.

Wednesday, October 17 - Super Hero Night. Spiderman, Batman vs. Superman, DC vs. Marvel? Dress up as your favorite superhero or super villain and compete against friends in The Spot’s Super Hero vs. Super Villain Costume Contest. Best costume wins a prize.

Saturday, October 20 (rescheduled from September 15) – Community Service Field Trip (9 a.m. departure from Miami Lakes Optimist Clubhouse and returning around 2 p.m.). In partnership with Miami-Dade County, the trip is designed to clean up Pelican Harbor. Event includes a kayak tour to the bay island where volunteers will collect trash. Lunch will be provided following the kayak trip back. There is a $10 registration fee and space is limited as only 24 participants will be allowed.

Wednesday, October 24 – Murder Mystery Night. With Halloween just around the corner, join in to solve a murder mystery at The Spot. You and your friends must find all the clues to expose the murderer, but beware who you can trust, for the murderer could be anyone - even you.
