Town Topics: Hispanic Heritage Month begins Sept. 15. What in your background are you proud of?

Ignacio Segovia  Owner, Mental Performance 365 Cooper City 

     “I’m very proud that we are passionate about life, we’re very creative people … we are not only passionate for new projects, but new people, we love people,” Ignacio Segovia said. “I think we Latinos not only work all the time, we like to see our motivation and passion. And I’m very proud of that.” 

Lissette Padron Owner, Competitive Edge Media  Miami Lakes 

     “I’m proud of all the stories and legacies that my grandparents have told me throughout the years,” Lissette Padron said.  “I love listening to all of the stories from Cuba and why they made the decision to come to Miami, way back when.” 

Katherine Del Pino  Co-Owner, Zen Canine Club Miami Lakes

     “I would say our tenacity and drive,” Katherine Del Pino said.  “We’re willing to outwork [and] outpace anyone, at any cost.”

     “The sacrifice my parents made escaping Cuba through the border…[and] the sacrifices they made, never taking that for granted,” Jose Del Pino said. “Their efforts, and to not take it for granted and when people tell me I work hard … No, my parents work more than me and I have no excuses personally because they still work harder than me.” 

Julio G. Menendez Owner, Global Insurance Agency  Miami Lakes 

     “The closeness of the family, to me that is the most important thing,” Julio Menendez said.  “It’s the one thing I’m very, very proud of, how close we are not only to our siblings, [but to] our parents [and] our cousins.”
