Two breast cancer prevention events in September

      Organizations with ties to Miami Lakes are sponsoring events in September to encourage women’s health and fight breast cancer.

     On Sept. 21, the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative will host its 9th Annual Pink Walk at Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave., Miami, FL 33167. 

     There is a $40 registration fee. Registration begins at 6 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony and at 7:30 a.m., a 5K run/walk. Get a T-shirt, chip-timed bib and finisher medal. 

     Participants can start a personal fundraising page to help WBHI reach its goal of raising $100,000.  Supporters can also participate virtually by running/walking in a neighborhood, park or at the beach, and challenging friends to join in.  For information go to flbreasthealth.com. 

     On Sept. 27, Saving Our Sisterhood and FiT Therapy will host a Pink Party for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  There will be gifts and beauty services from sponsors.
