Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School’s debate team has won their second contest of the 2025 season.
The team won their division at the Oct. 11 Bilzin Sumberg Policy Debate Invitational at Florida International University.
The students are participating in the 2025-2026 season of the Miami-Dade Urban Debate League.
The Bilzin Sumberg Police Debate International competition allowed the students to showcase their research and reasoning and advocacy skills before guest judges, including attorneys and civic leaders, a press release from Miami-Dade Urban Debate League said.
Nearly 150 students, coaches and community members were present for the debate. HML’s Coach Michelle Simon said 10 of 12 her students were recognized.
