Bob Graham Education Center fifth-grader Flavia Nuñez earned first place in the writing component for this year’s Fairchild Challenge. Nuñez wrote a story on a seed. The Fairchild Challenge is a competition that Fairchild Botanical Gardens sponsors every year with participation from more than 200 schools. It is a multidisciplinary competition with an emphasis on environmental sciences.

  Kandis Terry, Katie Camero, and Katherine Merino are long time friends, Miami Lakes residents, and graduating dancers at Intensity Dancer’s Studio in Miami Lakes.   Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School’s Sapphire Dance Team performed its annual Spring Concert in late May in the school’s auditorium. Dance styles included hip-hop, lyrical, salsa, and bachata.
