Local students were named Burger King Scholars from the Burger King McLamore Foundation. South Florida Burger King Scholar Award recipients included Nicholas A. Fernandez, Elizabeth M. Bello, Natalie Balmori, Joseph M. Cabauy, and Janelle Gonzalez, all from the Miami Lakes area. The Burger King McLamore Foundation aims to build brighter futures for students in North America and Puerto Rico.

  Bryan Benaiges and Rachel Oei were the 2014 winners of the Miami Lakes Keys to the Town Scholarship Award sponsored by The Graham Companies. Each student received $1,000 to be used for college.
