Students shine at U.S. Chess SuperNationals contest in Orlando

     Two local chess teams performed well at the U.S. Chess SuperNationals Tournament held in Orlando from May 9 - 11.      Hannah Quinones-Cao, an eighth grader at Miami Lakes K-8 Center, won 1st Place in the American Chemical Society’s Illustrated Poem contest. Her original poem and art for the theme “Glaciers: Hot Topic, Cool Chemistry” “illustrated how climate change affects glaciers and the vital role chemistry plays in understanding the changes,” the school said in an email.      ...
