Stephanie Fouts of Miami Lakes, a member of the class of 2017 at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, has earned Dean’s List status for the recently ended winter term 2013. Dean’s List status represents a term grade average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

MLEC's Chess Club qualifies

Miami Lakes Educational Center Chess Club members Kristian Aspi, Robert Walsh, Daniel Manfreidiz, Elkin Huertas and Joseph Garcia competed in the recent North Regional K-12 Chess Tournament at North Miami Senior High School and came in second place. The team quallified for the upcoming district tournament.
The Miami-Dade County School Board unanimously approved two items proposed by Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman at its regular meeting in January. The items endorse March 2014 as both Arts in Our Schools Month and Florida Bike Month.
