E-Learning camp offered for students whose school buildings are closed

     The town of Miami Lakes is providing working parents with a child care option for students enrolled in public schools who resumed virtual learning on Aug. 31.     Called E-Learning Support Day Camp, the town is partnering with YMCA staff who will monitor kids as they do their schoolwork in a public center in town.     During its Aug. 18 meeting, the town council approved a plan to provide places for 54 students, from ages 5 to 12.     As...

Eddie the Spartan, the mascot for Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami Gardens, welcomed students Aug. 17 during a car parade that was part of orientation for the new students. Orientation days in previous years would include campus tours and visits to classrooms, but those traditions couldn’t happen during the coronavirus pandemic.
