Bob Graham Education Center (BGEC) announced that Middle School Science Teacher and Department chairperson, Marilyn Dieppa, is the 2017-2018 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Middle School Science Teacher of the Year.

Dieppa was honored at the twenty-second Annual M-DCPS Science Teacher Banquet held on May 4. Dieppa launched the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Academy at BGEC during the 2016-2017 school year and continues to lead it.

During this second year of the program, one of the teams competed in VEX IQ World’s Competition representing both the district and the state. Additionally, she has been the Middle School department chairperson since 2003. She attends the district department meetings and Instructional Capacity-building Academy (ICAD) meetings for BGEC, and in return, trains and works closely with her science department.

Dieppa coordinates the Science Fair, SECME (Science, Engineering, Communication, Mathematics and Enrichment), VEX IQ, Fair Child Challenge and Future City. She has conducted professional development for educators, and created lessons through the STEM Transformation Institute of Florida International University. BGEC administrators commended Dieppa for being an exceptional educator, mentor and facilitator.
