DeSantis appoints Alonso to TPO

     Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Miami-Dade County School Board Member Roberto J. Alonso to the county Transportation Planning Organization. 

     DeSantis announced the appointment on July 7. He has previously twice appointed Alonso to the Miami Dade College Board of Trustees.

     Alonso will fill a vacant spot on the TPO, which has oversight of budgets, contracts and other matters relating to transportation in the county.

      The seat was previously held by former school board chair Perla Tabares Hantman, who retired in November, 2022 after 26 years of service in public education.

     Alonso is vice president of business development at Costa Realtors Corp. in Miami Lakes.

     He lives with his family in Miami Lakes, where he presents the annual Cars for a Cure auto show to raise money for cancer research.
