DeSantis reappoints Rizo to Southern Regional Education Board

    Gov. Ron DeSantis reappointed Fla. Rep. Alex Rizo to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.

     “I’m honestly thrilled that Governor DeSantis has that confidence in me to represent our state at that level…,” Rizo said. “I look forward to continuing to help shape good educational policy for all Floridians.”

     The board serves 16 states and provides information about educational policy and trends in public schools. 

     It also gives guidance to the individual state departments of education and legislators, he said. 

     The governor announced Rizo’s reappointment on April 17.

     Rizo, R-Hialeah, represents District 112 and was first elected to the state legislature in 2020. 

     He is president and chief executive officer of Rizo and Sons Consultants and Beyond the Bell Learning Center. 

     Rizo earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University, and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Nova Southeastern University

     In politics, he is a member of FloridaGOP and of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County.
