High scores = a feast for MLK-8 students

Miami Lakes K-8 Language Arts teacher Virnalis Arvelo continued her annual celebration of students’ academic success by taking high achievers to dinner in July at ML Steaks + Sports restaurant. Since 2010, Arvelo has recognized students who have earned top marks on state exams by treating them to a meal at a restaurant.

This year, five students earned a 10 or a perfect score on their writing tests, and 13 students received a five on their English and Language Arts Assessments. Eight students attended the outing on Main Street, out of the 16 classmates who received the top marks.
