Students who dropped out of Miami-Dade College because of financial hardships have a way to return to school and complete their degrees, for free.
The Last Mile
Completion Scholarship is available to former students who are Florida residents who had a GPA of 2.0 or higher; were in good financial standing with the school and within 13 credit hours of completing a degree.
The program, enacted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, pays for in-state tuition.
There are other requirements that can be found on
www.mdc.edu/last-mile-scholarship.
Go there to fill out a brief online form and the school will determine whether you’re eligible for the program.
Though the scholarship was initially offered for the current term, the school said it was still reviewing applications.
“Understanding the many challenges that students experience is part of MDC’s commitment to help them succeed and, as such, we are proud to support this initiative by Gov. Ron DeSantis,” Dr. Kathy J. Maalouf, vice provost, student affairs at MDC said in a media statement last fall.
“The Last Mile Scholarship will facilitate students’ reentry to their path to success by complet-ing their degree, which can translate into better opportunities in the workforce and a positive impact in their communities and families,” she said.
