The grades are in and Miami-Dade County Public Schools is an A-rated school district for a seventh year in a row.
The district had no F grades for individual schools, while 64% received an A grade in the Florida Department of Education’s annual school grades. Twenty-two percent of schools received B’s and 14% received C’s.
Among Miami Lakes area schools, Bob Graham Education Center, Miami Lakes K-8 Center, Miami Lakes Middle School, Miami Lakes Educational Center, Barbara Goleman Senior High School, Palm Springs North K-8 Center and Mater Lakes Collegiate Academy Middle School all retained A grades. Mater Lakes Collegiate Academy High School received its first A after receiving C’s for the past two years.
Lawton Chiles Middle School received a B for the second year in a row, while American Senior High School lowered from an A back to a B. Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School also lowered its grade from a B to a C.
Grades are calculated through students’ end-of-course exams, the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) exam, the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (BEST) exam and the Statewide Science Assessment.

Dotres, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, said in a statement. “For four years in a row, Miami-Dade County Public Schools has improved student academic achievement, and today, for the seventh year, we are proud to be an A-rated school district. This achievement reflects the remarkable work of our principals leading our schools, our dedicated teachers, and the entire community working together to support student success.
