Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Food and Nutrition Department rolls out healthy, nutritious breakfast and lunch menu items for the 2017-18 school year. All menu items comply with the Wellness Policy and nutritional guidelines. Fresh fruits, vegetables, salad and farm-to-school items are a part of every menu plan.
The lunch menu features three cheese calzone; a turkey, bacon, and provolone panini; a veggie burger; barbacoa beef tacos; and hummus served with pita chips. All meals come with a side salad and a fruit.
Also added to the lunch menu are a meatloaf burger on a ciabatta bread; a red, white and blue cookie (with cranberries and blueberries); and a sprinkle cookie (50 percent whole grain and reduced sugar with multi-color sprinkles).
In addition to the lunchtime selections, new breakfast items include cinnamon twists; cheesy bites - baked bread; and savory biscuits.
