Mater Academy teacher Larissa Perez was recognized by The College Board as a Springboard Teacher of Distinction, an honor which celebrates exceptional and passionate educators whose work exemplifies the core principles of the SpringBoard program.
To be a candidate for Springboard Teacher of Distinction, the College Board offers teachers multi day, face-to-face workshops and events for SpringBoard teachers; special-focus workshops; targeted training for instructional coaches; on-site observation and feedback; and online professional learning options.
Perez is a sixth grade math teacher for advanced and gifted students who expect to have a challenging and knowledge filled academic year.
She said she’s part of a fantastic sixth grade “mathematics team.”
Perez said within the fourth quarter, she will be working on seventh grade topics in the SpringBoard book, and supplementing her classroom instruction with iXL skills.
“It is critical that students bring their pages to class each day and stay on task with iXL in order to avoid last minute stress,” she said.
