Mater Academy student Chakeya Reece recently was named the recipient of the Miami-Dade Alumni Chapter of Bethune-Cookman University’s Book Scholarship.
The Book Scholarship honors high school juniors who have distinguished themselves in their communities by their significant commitment to community services.
An actual book was awarded to Reece, along with a scholarship, to attend the Daytona Beach historically black college.
Former Miami Dolphins and NFL Hall of Famer Larry Little, a Bethune-Cookman University alumni, presented Reece with the book scholarship.
