Members of the Mater Academy Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter joined forces with the March of Dimes to promote awareness of premature births and raise funds for the organization this holiday season. The students hosted “Adopt A Baby,” a fundraiser that took place on Sunday, December 7, at Westland Mall in Hialeah.

Chairman Elanny Lago stated, “It is very important to let people know what the March of Dimes is here for and what the purpose of the organization is.”

Shoppers at Westland Mall had the opportunity to “adopt” a small baby figurine for a minimum $2 donation and received a “birth certificate” to go along with it. The “Adopt A Baby” Committee successfully raised more than $500, and donated the funds to the March of Dimes. The Mater Academy Charter High School FBLA Chapter was glad to have worked together for stronger, healthier babies.
