Mater Lakes Academy’s Mock Trial team placed 5th in the High School Mock Trial Competition held March 31 – April 3 at the Justice Teaching Center at Florida Southern College in Lakeland.  They argued a civil lawsuit about whether environmental damage to a wildlife preserve was caused by farm fertilizer that may have ended up in a river shared by both parties. The team was one of 16 and the sole school from the Miami-Dade County Circuit, Mater Lakes Academy said.

To get to Lakeland they won the 2nd Annual Private and Charter School Mock Trial Competition in February, their second time taking that title, and then beat Hialeah Gardens High School to win their first ever 11th Circuit Championship.
