Spanish Lake Elementary teacher, Lisvette Reyes, and her third grade math students were honored by a visit from Maira Maguire, District Coordinator of Reflex Math. The program helps students build math fluency through gamification of math skills.
Maguire personally recognized Reyes' math students with a visit due to their immense growth, impressive achievements, and dedication to the Reflex Math Program. She was overwhelmed by the statistics during the first marking period which showed a starting fluency of 8 percent compared to the current 91 percent.
Spanish Lake Elementary was among the top 10 elementary and K-8 schools in the schools in the district for a Total Fluency Gain with 62,823 facts learned.
Reyes said, “Reflex math is an interactive, computerized, easy to navigate math program which motivates and builds upon each part of the math program in an effective and efficient way. It teaches to the student's needs and yet gives a deep conceptual understanding in a beneficial and interesting way to the student. Although my students are the ultimate winners with their efforts to work and make such incredible gains with Reflex Math, they were on cloud nine to be recognized for their diligence and performance.”
