Town of Miami Lakes and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) have joined forces to form an education compact that will utilize each organization’s collective resources for the greater benefit of students and residents of Miami Lakes.
The education compact received final approval at the February 11 Miami-Dade County School Board meeting.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Town Council, members of the Town’s Education Advisory Board, and School Board chairwoman Perla Tabares Hantman for her leadership and support of this effort,” said Mayor Wayne Slaton. “In addition, a thank you to Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and his dedicated staff for working on this initiative that will now formalize the Town’s long-standing relationship with the school district.”
Through the compact, MDCPS and the Town will strive to meet the educational needs of the town’s youth. The areas of focus include, but are not limited to, student achievement, community involvement, facilities, and communications.
