Miami Lakes Council thanks Mayor’s Gala sponsor St. Thomas University

    Proceeds from the annual Mayor’s Gala is the only support given to the Special Needs Advisory Board. The money supports the board’s activities and events held for the community.

     The 2025 Gala held in November raised a record-setting $71,000 and after expenses donated $43,025, Mayor Josh Dieguez said. In February, Dieguez proclaimed it was St. Thomas University Month, for the school’s $10,000 contribution to the fundraiser and its role as the presenting sponsor.

     “It was our honor to support the event that was so well put together,” said Craig Henderson, senior vice president for Strategy and Chief of Staff at St. Thomas University. 

     Henderson said the university, where Dieguez earned his law degree, plans to support more events in the town.
