Families can spend much of Saturday, Aug. 14 at two free events on the west side of Miami Lakes while getting ready for fall and bidding farewell to summer.
The town will host an open house at Mary Collins Community Center for parents and kids who want to register for youth classes -- dance, YMCA after school care, Camp Wannado, martial arts, Optimist Club sports, fishing, Snapology, Spectrum Dance Therapy and more -- from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Program providers will greet families at the community center, 15151 NW 82nd Ave.
There will be a surprise giveaway, too.

From 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., the town’s End of Summer Bash will be held next door in Picnic Park West.
Sponsored by the Youth Activities Task Force and the town, there will be food trucks, a waterslide, music and more.
The Giving Gators charity will provide 200 kits with school supplies.
