 The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes. Space is limited and registration is required for many events. 

Costume Karaoke Wed., Oct. 18, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Dress as your alter ego and sing! Experienced and first-time karaoke singers welcome. Ages 13 – 19.

Talk Crafty to Me! Thurs., Oct. 19, 11 a.m. – Noon.  Make cool crafts while meeting other creatives. Materials provided. Ages 19+

Homework Help & Tutoring Sat., Oct. 21, 28, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Certified teachers meet students in grades K-12 for one-hour sessions to help with homework and tutoring in reading, math and science. Strange stories from the Pacific Northwest with Alton Chung Sat., Oct. 21, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Master storyteller Alton Chung shares mysterious tales from the Pacific Northwest. The event will be live streamed at the branch and can be watched via Zoom. Registrants will receive an email with the Zoom link. All ages.

Not Your Mamma’s Mummies: Mummies from everywhere but Egypt Wed., Oct. 25, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Celebrate the spooky season with an exploration of mummies in places you never suspected they would be.

Ages 12 – 18.

Dominoes and Cafecito Thurs., Oct. 26, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Enjoy a game of dominoes and a shot of Cuban coffee. Age 55+.

Ghost stories from Japan with Alton Chung Sat., Oct. 28,  2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Master storyteller Alton Chung shares traditional ghost stories from the Land of the Rising Sun. The event will be live streamed at the branch and can be watched via Zoom. Registrants will receive an email with the Zoom link. All ages.

It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus Tues., Oct. 31, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Watch the PG movie “Hocus Pocus” and some craft time. Wearing costumes is encouraged. Ages 10+

Magic Butterflies Craft Wed., Nov. 1, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Decorate, wind and release magic butterflies from your hands. Materials provided. Ages 8 – 18.

STEM Saturdays Sat., Nov. 4, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Do a hands-on STEM activity with FIU undergrad and medical students. Materials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP
