     The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.  Most events require preregistration and popular courses may fill up early. Sign up in advance to avoid being shut out of classes.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and closed Sunday. 

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for Toddlers  Wed., March 5, 12, 19, 26   11 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities.  Ages 18 mos. – 3

Teen Library Advisory Board – Mobile Photography Workshop for Teens Wed., March 5  4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Teens will explore photography with their smartphones with activities and practical tips. Ages 13 – 19

Circus Show  Thurs., March 6  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.   Siboney Circus will perform and teach circus history and skills such as juggling, hula hooping, contortion and acrobatics. All Ages

Tai Chi for Beginners  Fri., March 7, 14, 21, 28  11 a.m. – Noon   Led by a library staffer, this class of gentle and graceful movements is designed to improve balance, coordination, focus and mental health. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.  Ages 19+

Homework Help & Tutoring   Sat., March 8, 15.   10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Certified teachers tutor students in reading, math and science for one-hour sessions. For grades K-12. Just Keep Jumping!  Sat., March 8    3 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Join Jump Generation for a jump roping event. Learn skills to encourage healthy habits, in a supportive and fun environment. Dress comfortably, wear closed-toe shoes and jump into fitness.   Ages 8 – 12

Florida State Attorney’s Office Community Outreach  Wed., March 12    10 a.m. – Noon   A representative from the Florida State Attorney’s Office Community Outreach Division will be available to address concerns from the community.  Ages 19+

Ceramics Workshop for Beginners  Wed., March 12   4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Celebrate Women’s History Month with a ceramics workshop for teen beginners. Presented by 2Win Studios, made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.   Ages 12 - 18

Macrame Wall Hanging Workshop  Thurs., March 13  11 a.m. – 1 p.m.   Learn basic macrame techniques, knots and measurements and how to make a wall decoration.  Ages 19+

Nintendo Switch Gaming Hour  Thurs., March 13   4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Play and explore games on the Nintendo Switch. Controllers and games will be provided. Ages 12 – 18

Crochet Class  Sat., March 15  2 p.m. – 4 p.m.   Beginners can learn to crochet toys. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.  Ages 13 – 18

Caregiver & Me Playgroup  Mon., March 17  10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.   Build meaningful bonds with your little one through music, creative movement, arts and crafts and sensory explorations. Presented by Round Robin Playgroup.  Ages 0 – 5

Chess Free Play: Think, Move, Play  Tues., March 18. 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.  Beginner and experienced players welcome to enjoy friendly games of chess.  Ages 8+

704 Crafty Creations Wed., March 19  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Using high-quality Decoden cream, decorate transparent phone cases, hairbrushes and other items with vibrant, intricate designs tailored to your style.
