The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering these in-person classes.    

Talking is Teaching: Talk, read, sing for toddlers in dos idiomas  Tues., April 11, 18, 25,  11 a.m. - Noon  Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and caregivers in English and Spanish. Ages 18 mos. - 3. 

LEGO and Goobi Challenge Wed., April 5, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Complete various engineering tasks with LEGO or Goobi building sticks.  Ages 8 - 18

Touch the Bay Thurs., April 6, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  A presentation on sea stars, conchs and sea urchins with a hands-on activity presented by Miami EcoAdventures. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.

Florida Licensing on Wheels   Fri., April 7, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Renew a driver’s license or get a replacement, name change or address; get an ID card; renew a vehicle registration or buy a specialty license plate. Ages 18+.

Homework Help and Tutoring  Sat., April 8, 15, 22, 29, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free, in-person tutoring by certified teachers for grades K-12 in reading, math and science. Visit www.mdpls.org/tutor for more information and to register.  Funded in part by The Children’s Trust.

Chess Club  Tues., April 11, 25,  6 p.m. - 7 p.m.  Play with other fans of the game. Ages 8 - 18.

Poetry Scroll  Wed., April 12, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Design your own scroll, called Kakejiku, and pair it with your own haiku.  Materials provided. Presented by the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.  Ages 9+.

Bingo Bash  Thurs., April 13, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Socialize with friends over a game of Bingo! Ages 50+.

Deaf History Month Book Presentation Sat., April 15, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.  A fast-paced presentation on four books about the deaf experience in America, from the 1600s to the present, with a Q&A session. Presented by South Florida Senior Deaf Citizens.  Ages 14+.

Teen Advisory Board Wed., April 19,  4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Earn service hours, work on community projects and talk about ways to make the library better for teens. Ages 13 - 18.

Teen Crafty Corner  Thurs., April 20,  4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Explore your creativity through multi-media crafts. Ages 12 - 18.

DIY Shoe Decorating  Wed., April 26,  4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Bring a pair of canvas shoes and paint them to create something new. Painting materials supplied. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.  Ages 8 - 18.
