The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering the following online and in-person classes. Space is limited. In most cases, you must register in advance.

Homework Help & Tutoring Program -- In Person Funded in part by The Children’s Trust

Sat. Nov. 5, 12, 19, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Certified teachers meet students in small groups to tutor them in reading, math and science.

Stem Saturday

Sat., Nov. 5, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Hands-on activity with FIU undergrad and medical school students. Materials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP. Ages 5 - 15.

Talking is Teaching: Talk, read, sing for toddlers in dos idiomas

Tues., Nov. 15, 22, 29, 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and caregivers in English and Spanish. Ages 18 mos. - 3.

Ready, Set Go Miami! 

Tues., Nov. 15, 22, 29, 11:30 a.m. - Noon Workshop to promote literacy through topics such as nature. Parents will receive tips for reading with kids and other activities. Presented by The Children’s Trust Parent Club.

Chess Enthusiasts Club

Tues., Nov. 15, 6 p.m. - 7 pm. Sharpen your skills while playing with other fans of the game.  Ages 8+. 

Mad City Money

Wed., Nov. 16, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Financial literacy for teens. During a Game of Life activity, players learn about budgeting and then test their knowledge on whether they can successfully manage their money. Presented by the Dade County Federal Credit Union Gen-U Committee.  Ages 12 - 18.   

Pirate Ship Craft

Wed. Nov. 30,  4 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Assemble, paint and personalize your own pirate ship! Materials provided. Ages 7 - 18.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Mon. - Thurs., 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri. and Sat. 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.  It is closed Sundays and some Mondays.
