 The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering the following online and in-person classes.  Space is limited. In some cases, you must register in advance for online events.  Free 2022 Hurricane preparation guides are available at all branches.

101 Tadpoles  Tues., Aug. 16 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Follow the adventures of a curious tadpole and his family in this cautionary tale. The story is accompanied by a crafts activity and materials will be provided. Presented by the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.  Ages 3+.

Scratch Coding Basics – Online event. Mon., Aug. 22  4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Learn how to program, make interactive games, animations, art and stories using the online platform Scratch.  Ages 8 – 12.

Miami Lakes Youth Advisory Board  Wed., Aug. 24  4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Earn community service hours and make the library a better place for you and your friends. Visit the branch to submit a volunteer application and show a photo ID.  Ages 16 - 19.

El Nino and how it affects Florida – Online event  Tues., Aug. 30  5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Join graduate students from the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science for a presentation about El Nino. Learn more about it, why we should care, the current state of it and how it will impact our climate this year.  Ages 18+.

    The library is at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd.  It is open Mon. - Thurs., 9:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri. and Sat. 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.   The library is closed Sundays and some Mondays.
