The Miami Lakes Middle School Warrior Band has had a banner year.At Solo and Ensemble Festival in February, the band earned 65 Superior Ratings and six Excellent Ratings. This was a new record for the group. In March, the Concert Band received a Superior rating in Concert and in Sight-reading at Hialeah Gardens High School at the FBA Music Performance Assessment Festival.
On May 1, the following six students performed in the Superintendent's Honors Festival at FIU Tamiami Campus: Gabriel Perez (Alto Saxophone), Valerie Castañeda (Bb Clarinet), Valentina Dominquez (Bb Clarinet), Jeslyn Povedo (Bb Clarinet), Juan Sola (Bb Clarinet), and Annalia Ampie (Bb Clarinet). Each student had to go through an audition to be selected into this prestigious group.
On May 6, the band will travel to a Tampa Festival to participate in the Tampa Bay Classic. The band families worked hard to fundraise for this event. Additionally, the band partnered up with Miami Lakes businesses Chipotle, Menchies, and Pei-Wei for family nights.
