Miami Lakes Educational Center’s (MLEC) Key Club and Girl Scout Troop 500 joined forces to give the kids of His House Children’s Home a day to remember. “The holidays are here,” said Sharon Zajac, a MLEC student and member of Troop 500. “Every one is so consumed in the shopping and the parties that we forget what is important."

“There are so many people in this world without a family or home. That is why, in a community effort, we wanted to do something special and give a little love and happiness to a group of kids.”

The Field Day for the children at His House was made possible thanks to the collaboration of a group of people including volunteers from MLEC, Girl Scout Troop 500 leader Susy Larsh, Girl Scout Troop 267 leader Mayra Duarte, Marcio Larsh from Miami Lakes Congregational Church, Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza, and Bianca Larsh from the South Florida Youth Symphony.

“We hope the children at His House had a day that brought them love and not a feeling of sorrow or abandonment. We hope they know they are a part of a community that cares,” Zajac added.

“We only hope that more people get involved and don’t leave a matter this important to be pushed aside for generations to come.”
