Sabrina M. Alonso, a sophomore at Miami Lakes Educational Center, completed the University of Miami High School Podcast Workshop in June.
Sabrina, 15, lives in Miami Lakes with her parents Juve Alonso and Christina Alonso and her younger sister Adrianna Alonso.
The podcast that she co-hosted with a classmate is entitled “The Remote Revolution: The effects of remote work on children.”
The young journalists describe the benefits and challenges for families when parents work from home. They also present the perspectives of parents, kids and a child psychologist.
In her podcast biography, Sabrina says journalism is the school course she is most passionate about. She enjoys being able to express herself through writing and to “make a difference with what I write.”
She will join the staff of The Harbinger, the Miami Lakes Educational Center’s student newspaper. Sabrina got her start in sixth grade by doing school announcements. She is a member of the Miami Lakes Library Youth Advisory Committee.
Sabrina hopes to have a career writing books or for a newspaper.
