Miami Lakes K-8 Center students were treated to two special presentations to mark Black History Month in February.

Emmy award-winning anchor Jawan Strader from WTVJ-Ch. 6 visited middle school students on Feb. 16 and spoke about why education is the key to success.

Strader, shared a clip of a 5:30 p.m. newscast with students in the school cafeteria, the school said in an email.

At another event, Miami-Dade County Public Library Youth Service Specialists Shenita Greaves and Lisa Thomas presented a storyteller program on Feb. 9 to students in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade.

The kids heard stories and songs while at an assembly in the cafeteria.
