New application deadline for Future Leaders Scholarships

The Town of Miami Lakes and its Education Advisory Board are accepting applications for The Graham Companies’ Future Leaders Scholarships, to be presented by the firm.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Miami Lakes.
The deadline for applications has been extended; paperwork must be submitted to town hall by June 31.

The Education Advisory Board will select two recipients, and the winners may be announced at a town
council meeting.
Applicants must submit a typed essay of up to 750 words that explains how she or he hopes to make the world a better place.
The student must also demonstrate academic achievement, a commitment to community service and identify his or her future goals.
A cover sheet should accompany the essay, along with an official, sealed high school transcript.
Three letters of recommendation from non-relatives, one of which must be from a teacher or school official, is also part of the application.
