Open enrollment for 375 magnet programs in Dade County

Miami-Dade County Public Schools opened its enrollment period for magnet programs across the school district on Thursday, October 1. Applications will continue being accepted through Friday, January 15, 2016.

Teachers and students will be able to enjoy new and innovative magnet programs that were created for the 2015-2016 school year. True to the District’s motto “Giving our students the world,” the now more than 375 magnet program offerings are personalized to meet students’ interests, talents and individualized needs. These offerings include 16 new magnet programs in 12 schools in the areas of Sciences, Mathematics, Multimedia Entertainment Technology, Legal Studies, and Visual Arts.

In the Miami Lakes area magnet programs include: Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy in Science and Technology, Barbara Goleman Senior High School’s NSI Academy and AP Capstone program, Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School’s magnet in Digital Media Technology and Entrepreneurship, iPrep Academy and Legal Studies magnet, Joella C. Good Elementary School’s Montessori program, Miami Lakes Middle School’s Legal Studies program, and Miami Lakes Educational Center’s Cambridge program.

This year, the school district is also launching a new magnet application system that can be accessed at www.miamimagnets.org which will be available in multiple languages. This new tool will simplify the application process, increase parental access to information and enhance communication throughout the process, as well as include how-to video guides.
