The Miami-Dade County Public School Board unanimously approved four items proposed by Board chair Perla Tabares Hantman endorsing Hispanic Heritage Month, “Ethical Governance Day” and “Dads Take Your Child to School Day," and honoring Dr. Louis Algaze, principal of Hialeah Gardens Senior High School, for winning the National Academy Foundation’s (NAF) Janet Linton Leadership Award.
“I am proud to be able to bring forth initiatives that raise students’ consciousness, celebrate the significant difference that fathers and father-figures make in children’s education, and that commemorate the history and culture of Hispanics around South Florida,” said Hantman.
“Additionally, I would like to commend Dr. Louis Algaze for being honored as an outstanding academy director by the National Academy Foundation. His leadership ensures his students at Hialeah Gardens Senior High will become productive citizens in the global economy.”
The Board voted to endorse September 15 to October 15, 2016 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; endorse October 22 as “Ethical Governance Day 2016” in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; endorse September 28 as “Dads Take Your Child to School Day” in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and recognize Dr. Louis Algaze, principal of Hialeah Gardens Senior High School.
