Palm Springs Elementary student Ariana Amador won the 8th annual Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) District 13 “Every Drop Counts” poster contest last month, as she was among the 1,671 students from 96 elementary schools who participated in the contest.
The contest is part of WASD’s Water-Use Efficiency Plan’s commitment to educate youth on the importance of water conservation and protecting this valuable resource.
Thirteen winning posters, one from each County Commission District, were selected by a panel of judges based on three criteria – water conservation message, visual effectiveness and universal appeal and originality.
Three of the posters were submitted to the State of Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA) “Drop Savers” Water Conservation Poster Contest and all three won first place in their divisions.
The students were recognized at a recent Miami-Dade County Commission meeting.
