Education Wednesday, January 6, 2016

As proposed by Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman, the Miami-Dade School Board unanimously voted to endorse the 2016 Teen Driver Safety Contest, in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Public Schools Community Traffic Safety Team and the Florida Highway Patrol.

The contest, now in its eighth year, is made up of the annual Teen Driver Safety Public Service Announcement (PSA) and Poster Contest that is open to all District senior high schools.

The contest will run from January to March 2016. One PSA and one poster each will be picked as winners of first, second, and third-place awards. The winning entries will be showcased for a three-month period on WLRN, one winner per month for each category, after the televised School Board meetings. Winners also will be recognized during the April 2016 School Board and MPO Governing Board meetings.
