SLE thanks sponsors; announce Cambridge program candidacy

Education Tuesday, June 30, 2015

An evening dessert reception to honor and thank Spanish Lake Elementary’s (SLE) Dade Partners and dedicated volunteers was held at the school before the final end-of-the-year musical program. The Dade partners and volunteers provided resources to enhance educational programs and to assist in rewarding students and teachers for their accomplishments.

In addition to celebrating the close of another successful school year, SLE’s administration announced that the school is a candidate to possibly receive the Cambridge Program for the 2015-2016 school year. The Cambridge Program, which has expanded through Dade County schools, emphasizes analysis, problem solving, communication skills, and content sensitive to cultural diversity with rigorous academic coursework.

SLE teachers are being provided with teacher training and curriculum support in order to best present this new curriculum to their students. The Cambridge program complements the existing M-DCPS curriculum in order to further stimulate student progress in the areas of English, mathematics, and science at the elementary level.

For additional information concerning the Cambridge Program contact the school principal, Jacqueline Arias-Gonzalez at 305-813-0699.
