Kids across Miami Lakes and surrounding areas will be able to sign up for a variety of summer camps this year. From sports to theater, there is something for everyone.
Camp schedules are Monday through Friday.
Miami Lakes Optimist Club. Kids ages 6 to 15 can learn baseball techniques at Optimist Park, 6411 NW 162 St. Camp starts June 13 with week-long sessions until August 12, and are $175 per week/$160 per week for Miami Lakes residents or returning Optimist Park players. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Optimist Park. Early drop off at 8 a.m. and late pick up until 4 p.m. is available for an extra $10 per day. For information call Ernie Sainz at 305-527-5131.
Snapology at the Miami Lakes Youth Center. Snapology will host two S.T.E.A.M camps this summer at the Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. For ages 4 to 6 and 7 to 14. Campers will enjoy hands on activities for 10 weeks. Camps run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from June 13 to Aug. 19. Price is $250 for residents/$270 for non-residents. Town of Miami Lakes Summer Camp. A variety of activities from bounce houses to cooking are offered at the Town of Miami Lakes Camp Wannado at Optimist Park, 6411 NW 162 St. Camp runs for 10 weeks from June 13 until Aug. 5. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lunch and a snack are provided daily. Registration is a $35 cash payment cost is $145 per week per child after the initial deposit. YMCA Summer Camp. At Miami Lakes Royal Oaks Park, 16500 NW 87 Ave., this year the YMCA is offering dance and sports camps for kids ages 5 and up. Dancers will learn different dances and choreograph their own piece; sports campers will participate in team sports. Camp runs from June 13 to Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $135 per week for residents with a $50 registration fee/$160 per week for non-residents with a $50 registration fee. Children’s Theater Workshops presented by The Main Street Players. In two workshop sessions for kids ages 7 to 13, campers will learn acting, auditioning, stage craft and the playwriting process at the theater’s new space, 6812 Main St. Sessions are limited to 20 students and will run for three weeks: June 13 and July 1 and from July 11 to July 29. Mater Lakes Bears Summer Camp. Kids ages 6 to 15 can enjoy field trips; pool days; sports and fitness and a variety of other activities at the Bears Summer Camp at Mater Lakes Academy, 17300 NW 87 Ave. Camp runs from June 13 to Aug. 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $50 to register and $130 per week. Breakfast and lunch are included, and kids will receive a camp shirt, bag and water bottle when they register. Miami Lakes Athletic Club. Kids can either attend regular camp or tennis camp at the Miami Lakes Athletic Club, 15150 Bull Run Road, June 13 - Aug. 12. Campers ages 5 to 12 can enjoy a full day of activities including sports; arts and crafts; movie days and Friday pool days. Tennis camp for ages 5 to 17 are a full day or a half day for players to work on their skills. Both camps are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 9 a.m. to noon for the half day tennis camp. Arts for Autism Summer Camp. Arts for Autism will offer a six-week summer camp at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 NW 82 Ave., for children ages 5 to 10. Daily offerings include arts and crafts; art/music/dance therapy; teacher time; outdoor play; sensory activities and more. Campers will be divided into small groups with a board-certified behavior analyst. Camp runs from June 20 to July 29. Discounted rates are available.
