16 Mater Lakes Academy FBLA students win at State Conference

On the weekend of March 22-24, Mater Lakes FBLA members competed at the State Leadership Conference with 16 students winning trophies and qualifying for the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas this summer.
The winners included a first place, Introduction to Business Presentation, Joshua Villamizar, Gabriel Ramirez and Sabrina Arcila. Second place Computer Game and Simulation, Jeremiah Thony, Julian Arevalo and John Zamora. Second place Coding and Programming, Kevin Vega. Third place Client Service, Melany Diaz. Third place Publication Design, Kathryn Kalouf, Rosa Aleman and Isabella Milanes. Fourth place Electronic Career Portfolio, Madison Morales. Fifth place Social Media Campaign, Anny Licor, Samirah Ocampo and Andres Triana. Fifth place Intro to FBLA, Angel Ramirez
Milanes was also elected to the district board and will be vice president for District 25 FBLA next year.
After his first place win, Villamizar said, “I am very proud of the hard work we put in to get first place and there is no better feeling than being on that stage the moment we realized we got first place. Amazing”.
FBLA advisor Giovanni Lorenzo said, “This club has grown a lot in the past six years and I am proud of each individual that has helped make this club what it is now and hopefully we can get some positive results at the National Leadership Conference as well.”
