Miami Lakes Town Council hopeful Hector Abad was joined by friends and family during his campaign kickoff Nov. 30 at The Garrison Taproom on Main Street.
Abad is a social worker for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. He is running for Seat Six, which became vacant in November when former Vice Mayor Carlos O. Alvarez abruptly resigned. At the party, Abad said his purpose was to serve others “with a servant’s heart.” He currently volunteers as chair of the Education Advisory Board and with the Giving Gators charity.
Supporters included school officials, Mayor Manny Cid, Vice Mayor Tony Fernandez and Council members Luis Collazo and Ray Garcia.
