Miami Lakes Councilmember Nelson Rodriguez completed the Florida League of Cities and the John Scott Dailey Florida Government Institute for Elected Municipal Officials (IEMO) program. The educational program is specially designed for newly elected officials and those with less than one year in office.
“Attending IEMO was a great experience with in-depth training on budgeting, ethics, and Florida governmental history,” said Rodriguez. “Together with 20 other elected officials, I was able to compare the similarities and challenges of running a municipal government.”
The primary objective of the IEMO is to provide elected municipal officials with an intensive academic program that will assist them in effectively meeting the requirements of their elected role. The program offers a comprehensive overview of Florida municipal government, presented by a faculty of top professionals in the field.
