Dieppa promoted to major; named town commander

Miami-Dade Police Major Gene Dieppa was named the new Miami Lakes police major last month following a three-year tenure as the department’s Lieutenant that started in 2010.

Dieppa is a Miami Lakes resident and he’s familiar with public safety issues that make residents feel safe and to keep the crime rate very low.

“I am pleased to announce that the county has honored  my request and has promoted Gene Dieppa to the rank of major and will be serving as the town commander for Miami Lakes,” said Town Manager Alex Rey. “Gene is a great asset to the town and his work and dedication has made him earn this recognition. We are lucky to have him being responsible for the safety of our residents.”

Dieppa’s career began at the State Attorney’s Office. He later became an officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department and has advanced through the ranks, serving as investigator, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and now major.

During his leadership tenure in Miami Lakes, the police department has experienced many advancements, an increase in the number of police officers, developed enhanced initiatives to address burglaries and thefts throughout the town, increased training and preparedness, and improved relationships within the town’s communities.

Dieppa has been able to re-energize the police department and advance its reputation as a respected police department through training, discipline, accountability and stimulating creativity and growth. Dieppa holds a master’s degree in administration and is a graduate of the University of Louisville Kentucky Southern Police Institute.

He is committed to making the town of Miami Lakes Police Department one of the finest in the nation.
